Bill Melton was the White Sox third-baseman from 1968 through 1975. He lead the American League in homeruns in 1971 with 33 and was one of the top power-hitters of his day. His 96 RBIs in 1970 and 86 in 1971 ranked him among the league-leaders. The White Sox won 87 games in 1971 and finished in second-place in the A.L. West behind the dynastic Oakland As. Melton played for the Sox from 1968 through 1975 and ranks seventh on the White Sox all-time homerun list. The White Sox wore this jersey for all road games from 1972 through 1975. It features a zipper front and Meltons number 14 on both the left-sleeve, and the back. It is one of the few examples of a jersey displaying both the teams city and nickname. The jersey is made of polyester double-knit by Mitchell & Ness Nostalgia Co., Philadelphia.
